Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Yvonne Witter, Sheffield Health Champion, Health Trainer at Darnall Well-being and Community Champion with the Peak District, has been short-listed as an ‘Inspirational Hero’ for the Octavia Hill National Trust Award in recognition of her work.

“My role as a  Mosaic and Peak District Community Champion is very rewarding and it gives me a sense of fulfilment when people attend the events that I organise.  I volunteer with my local community to motivate adults and young people to access and enjoy the Peak District National Park and surrounding areas, and I encourage individuals to visit their  National Park by organising group walks, cycling trips and horse trekking,” says Yvonne. “I feel very excited about my nomination for the National Trust Octavia Hill Award and a great sense of achievement to be shortlisted for the work that I do to support others to enjoy the countryside and the great outdoors!”

Yvonne is a true champion of life and she made huge contributions to her community as a volunteer health champion, health trainer and community champion and she is a great inspiration to everyone she meets.  There are only three people on the short list and voting is now open to decide the winner.
